In a grim reminder that safety can be elusive at even the most hallowed public places, there was a stabbing incident at HBCU Morgan State University, the third violent incident on the campus in the last week.
The stabbings happened outside the entrance to a cafeteria about 2:05 p.m., after a suspect was observed with a knife, according to Clint Coleman, a university spokesman.
“Somebody pulled out a knife and just began swinging it widely,” Coleman said.
A police spokesman said one player was stabbed in the chest and taken to a hospital in very serious condition. He was later listed in critical but stable condition, the university said in a statement. Another player was stabbed in the arm and a third in the back, Baltimore police said.
