US Army deletes ‘chinks in armor’ tweet after race controversy

It’s stating the obvious to say that racism is bad.

So when people use racist terms online (or in real life) it’s not surprising that people jump to criticise those using offensive terms.

But what happened with the U.S. Army twitter account is a bit ridiculous.

Their social media used the word ‘chinks’ to describe chinks in the armour – a well used phrase that doesn’t have any racial foundation.

Sadly, however, the U.S. Army ended up deleting it’s ‘chinks in armour’ tweet after facing criticism for using the word which is also a slur against people of East Asian origin.

The US Army has deleted a tweet that used the term ‘chink’, after Twitter users complained that the word can be used as a racial slur against people of Chinese descent in a completely different context.
