ONTARIO, Canada (PIX11) — A father in Canada is facing a heart wrenching choice — he must choose to donate his liver to only one of his two ailing daughters.
According to the Canadian Press, Michael Wagner recently found out that he is a match to give part of his liver to one of his three-year-old daughters Binh and Phuoc.
Both girls suffer from Alagille syndrome — a genetic disorder that affects the liver, heart and other organs.
The parents reportedly told the doctors they didn’t want to be burdened with the choice, so a team of doctors will decide which girl will receive the transplant.
The surgery will be performed in about two weeks. The twins’ mother Johanne Wagner hopes another donor will be found in time for the other daughter.
The family has created a Facebook page to try and find a potential donor through social media.
