Bill Belichick spoke to the press about Deflategate on Thursday and like every Belichick press conference, it was an exercise in psychology and a gosh darn delight.
Here’s six things to know about what the Patriots coach said and/or didn’t say:
1. Full blown denial: You don’t often see Bill Belichick come out and go all-in with a statement during a press conference. His typical move is to hedge with generic phrases. That wasn’t the case Thursday morning, when Belichick spoke to the media about Deflategate (aka Ballghazi).
“When I came in Monday morning, I was shocked to learn of the news reports about the footballs,” Belichick said. “I had no knowledge whatsoever of this situation until Monday morning.”
