Tom Hardy has dropped out of Suicide Squad.

The Wrap reports that Hardy, who was set to play Rick Flag, had to quit because of schedule. He is still filming Western drama The Revenant, and has signed on to a publicity tour for the upcoming Mad Max reboot Fury Road.

Hardy was probably the cast member people were most excited about (other than Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and Jared Leto as the Joker) so whoever takes over has some big shoes to fill.

Luckily Jake Gyllenhaal might be that person, so all is not lost.

If he signs up for Suicide Squad it would reunite Jake with director David Ayer who he worked with on police drama End Of Watch.
