HOUSTON (CBS HOUSTON) – The Astros avoided arbitration with Jason Castro, Hank Conger, and Tony Sipp, agreeing to one-year deals with all of them.
Reported values of the deals, through multiple outlets, are $4 million for Castro, $1.075 million for Conger, and $2.4 million for Sipp.
Castro and Conger are two of the three established Astros catchers, not including the newly-acquired Evan Gattis (expected to play left field or DH) or prospect Max Stassi. The third of those three, Carlos Corporan, agreed to a one-year deal with the Astros on Thursday.
Castro was an All-Star in 2013. He hit .222 last season with 14 home runs and 56 RBI in 126 games.
